When I used the macro recorder in PP 2003, it showed me what I needed to do. (PowerPoint 2007 has no macro recorder at all, Excel 2007's does not work on graph manipulations). The Microsoft Office 2003 software Macro Recorders do a much better job than their 2007 or 2010 versions. Other than these default background styles, you can also opt to use a custom slide background such as a solid color, a gradient, a pattern or texture, or even a picture.
